El Camino tale

Di inspired me to write this post about cars in my life. I start from the beginning and I think I don’t even remember all, but the “best” ones are here, well I will do a series of posts, since there’s lot of things to tell you about. 😉

My first car was Chevrolet El Camino ’83. It was black with grey roof and grey low. I will try to find a photo for you. In fact there’s one somewhere in internet.. Anyway, the seller was in the middle of valve job. I took it to test drive after it was finished and bought the car. The seller gave 12month warranty for the work, I was pleased! Anyway, I blew a radiator hose in drive-through hamgurger joint, right in front of the window!! I got out calmly, opened the hood and attached the exploded hose together with roadie-tape and asked for some water.. I repaired it later.

After this my Elky started to make weird sounds, the motor to be exact. I got a time from this US car specialist and when I drove there, I was cloacked in cloud of smoke and steam.. I drove my car there, but the engine wouldn’t start anymore. Later the service guy foundout that the head gasket had given up, three valves had given up, two pistons were useless and so on. The guy who sold the car had disappeared.. Nice. Anyway, we decided to do engine swap since it was cheaper and easier task. New engine was from Chevy pickup that was converted to diesel and gave the gasoline engine to me. Later the rear-axle differentials started to make funny noise..

I traded the car to 1979 Chevrolet Camaro. Later I saw the Elky in local cruising. I went to talk with the guy who then owned it. I told about the rear axle and asked if it was repaired. He said he just bought the car and there’s nothing wrong with it and I had imagined the thing.. Yeah, when he started to smoke the tires, there was huge crack-boom noise and the rear axle gave up and twisted the prop shaft..

Next in the series: Tale about the white Camaro that could have been something else..
